who am i?
I’m Alton Wang, born and bred in San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. My roots are found in both mainland China as well as Taiwan. I’m fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and I know bits and pieces of Taiwanese.
what do i want to do with my life?
Since I was a kid, I’ve always thought that I was pretty darn sure of what I wanted to do when I got older, and had everything planned out. Every three years or so, however, my dream would always seem to change. In kindergarten, I wanted to study astrology and space, then by the end of elementary school I was dead set on architecture because I was fascinated by the ability to create magnificent buildings. Yet in three years by the time I started high school I had decided that I wouldn’t survive with the technicality of architecture and realized that advertising and graphic design was perfect for me, a balance between the technical and creative.
As I am now in my last year of high school, I look back and instead of thinking that I was simply undecided and my mind was constantly subject to change, I realized that this was a path for me to follow and discover what I really wanted to do with my life. Now I hope to major in political science, especially a focus on international relations. I’ve chosen a list of twelve schools to apply to, and I can’t wait for that time to come to go off to college.
but what can i do already?
After countless classes pursuing my dream of advertising and graphic design, I’m fairly well versed in the use of some Adobe Creative Suite products, namely Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and I’m currently learning how to use InDesign. Despite a drastic change in my future career, such things still stir an interest in me. I am also pretty fluent in basic HTML and CSS styles. Web design is something which I’ve always been interested in, and over the years I’ve created countless versions of this current site.
